Houston City Leaders Announce Downtown March For George Floyd

Officials in Houston, George Floyd's hometown, aren't just preparing for a march - they're organizing it.

Police Chief Art Acevedo's speech at a drive-in church service Sunday drew car horns. His anger, he says, comes from those who "don't see a problem" with Floyd's May 25 death while being arrested by four Minneapolis police officers.

Acevedo's speech was so touching. This is the leadership we needs. Watch it below and be ready for tears.

The Houston Chronicle reports a march and rally are planned for Tuesday. The police department has also offered to escort Floyd's body.

George Floyd was a multi-sport athlete and 1993 graduate of Yates High School.

Why are violent protests still occurring when police across the country are just as upset? Shouldn't that help to bring everyone together? Will it help to bring about effective change? What is your local police department saying in response to George Floyd's death?
