Jordan Peele is bringing one of the most bizarre stories of abuse and revenge to Amazon. The 4-part docuseries, Lorena, will uncover the truths behind the story of John Wayne and Lorena Bobbitt. The married couple made headlines after Lorena cut off John Wayne’s penis after an alleged rape she suffered at the hands of her husband.
It’s been 25 years since the trial and due to the #MeToo movement, Peele says “Lorena has a platform to tell her truth as well as engage in a critical conversation about gender dynamics, abuse, and her demand for justice.”
Heather Schuster, who is head of unscripted at Amazon Originals says, “Lorena reframes Lorena Bobbitt’s story around issues of sexism and domestic abuse and offers Prime members an exclusive new view into how America got her story wrong and maybe continues to get it wrong.”
