Safe to say, Roddy Ricch exploded to rap superstardom on his own terms. In just a few years, the Compton rapper has two No. 1 singles, a multi-platinum album, and became GRAMMY nominated.

Roddy Ricch is the latest artist to cover Complex digital cover and the first guest on GOAT Talk, a new show where we ask today’s greats to crown their all-time greats. The 22-year-old reveals his picks for the GOAT album, musician, sneaker, movie, athlete, sneaker, car, and more.

In the interview, Roddy explains how he's always been a lay-low guy who's here to do music. “I ain’t never been no internet n***a,” he says. “It’s so weird to me,” he says later, laughing about the surreal experience of actually using Instagram Live as a celebrity. “I’m looking at myself while I’m talking to people, and I don’t even know who I’m talking to. It’s like I’m talking to myself.”

“Sometimes I want to tell people things, but I’m not the type of person to just talk into a camera,” he adds. “So I’ll say things, and it’ll almost be like a poem that I can share with people. It may never come out, but I’m just expressing myself. I don’t talk to people through a phone. You’ve always known me to communicate through music, so why should I have to communicate through a live video with you?”
