A high-speed chase ended when a stolen minivan crashed into a stone wall, British police over the weekend were shocked when they saw who had skillfully managed to evade them: a 10-year-old boy! The chain of events began Friday evening in Peterborough when a delivery driver returned from dropping off a package and found his minivan had been stolen, according to the Peterborough Police Department. After spotting the stolen vehicle shortly after midnight, officers attempted to stop the driver, but he put the pedal to the metal and began weaving in and out of traffic, eventually losing his pursuers, police say.
The cops finally caught up with the young thief after they received a report of a minivan crashing into a wall, a police report reveals. Sure enough, it was the same van that had been stolen a few hours earlier, the report indicates. Police say that the boy was taken to a local hospital, where doctors determined he hadn't suffered any major injuries. Because of the boy's age, charges have not been filed against him, according to a department spokesman.
