Many protestors have been tearing down statues of historical figures that represented slavery. Over a thousand protestors in Virginia gathered around the statue of Christopher Columbus in solidarity against the Native Americans! They brought the statue down, set it on fire and then ended up throwing it in a lake!
We all had to learn about Christopher Columbus in school, we were told the PG version of the story! In reality Columbus and his crew slaughtered the Native Americans. The natives were soon forced into slavery and killed because of mistreatment and diseases they brought from Europe!
This statue in Virginia wasn't the only one destroyed, in Boston someone beheaded this Christopher Columbus statue!
