Cardi B Fires Back At Attorney For Criticizing Her Courtroom Attire

Cardi B will not stand for the policing of her body.

While the "Press" rapper has not spoken out about her on-going assault case in connection to a fight at a Queens strip club in August, she recently broke her silence after reading sexist comments made by Joseph Tacopina, the lawyer representing the alleged victims in Cardi's case, criticizing her for her high-fashion courtroom style.

"Cardi treats her trips to the courthouse like a runway show," Tacopina told the New York Post. "Here’s a woman who got indicted by a grand jury with felony charges, and appears to only be concerned about what she’s wearing [...] There’s going to be a 'Come to Jesus' moment with her, because it’s not consistent with someone who’s taking this seriously."

Cardi called out the attorney on Instagram, posting a series of since-deleted videos slamming him for being more concerned about what she puts on her body rather than the case at hand. "I don’t dress inappropriate when I go to court. I dress like a young f**king lady," Cardi said. "Where am I supposed to get my suits from H&M? Why are you worried about the way I dress? That just goes to show you that y'all do this sh*t for press,"

The 26-year-old rapper additionally noted that she's been to court before with no makeup on, "just motherf**kin chapstick."

"You're bothered because the way I dress," Cardi continued. "I cannot control that there's 100 cameras outside every single time I go to court."

"If I was a man, it would not bother you," she added, noting the sexist nature of his comments.

Cardi also questioned how Tacopina could represent Meek Mill, who is leading the charge for criminal justice reform in the U.S., and then attack her for clothing. "What's crazy is you are a lawyer that represents an artist that's standing up for prison reform, something that I have donated money to because I do believe the system treats unfairly black men and minorities [...] and you motherf**king worried about what a woman is putting on her body when she goes to f**king court. Get the f**k out of here!" she concluded.
