You have a suspect in a 36-year-old murder case, but you need to get a DNA sample to prove it was him.

Detectives had the answer to that problem; they printed a flyer for a free meal at a restaurant, left it on the suspect's vehicle in Waveland, Mississippi, waited until he brought the flyer in, and enjoyed his free meal.

Then took the spoon and fork he had used to eat and got a DNA sample that matched hairs left behind during the 1987 murder in Florida.

Michael Lapniewski was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder and is suspected of several similar murders in Pinellas County, Florida, around the same time.
