The Employment Development Department is cracking down on people!
If you've been receiving unemployment benefits, you'll soon need to be actively searching for a job to continue receiving unemployment checks.
According to ABC 7 and an EDD update, people who are out of work need to be actively looking for jobs to be eligible for unemployment benefits. Since the pandemic, many businesses were closed but now that has changed and starting July 11, you need to applying to get back to work.
"California offers many resources to help people to find safe and suitable careers and training opportunities that keep the economy moving," an agency director Rita Saenz told ABC 7.
