The CDC Has A Zombie Preparedness Page - And You Might Need It In 2021

We’re already a year into a global pandemic.

Why not add a zombie apocalypse to the mix?

Lucky for you (especially if you’re not already a zombie-movie aficionado), the Center for Disease Control and Prevention has you covered.

The CDC’s Center for Preparedness and Response launched a zombie preparedness page.

“Wonder why zombies, zombie apocalypse, and zombie preparedness continue to live or walk dead on a CDC web site? As it turns out what first began as a tongue-in-cheek campaign to engage new audiences with preparedness messages has proven to be a very effective platform,” reads the Zombie Preparedness page. “We continue to reach and engage a wide variety of audiences on all hazards preparedness via ‘zombie preparedness’.”

Listed resources include the zombie preparedness blog, zombie preparedness for educators, and more.

Apparently, it might be a good time to start brushing up on your zombie preparedness knowledge, according to a KRON4 story published Tuesday (March 2).

The Bay Area news station noted that a French physician known for his collection of prophecies apparently believed that the zombie apocalypse was coming, among other predictions for 2021.

Nostradamus cast a now-centuries-old prediction that this year will the one in which a “Russian scientist will create a biological weapon and produce a virus that can turn humankind into zombies, and we will all be extinct in the near future,” the annual horoscope reads.

“You may laugh now, but when it happens you’ll be happy you read this, and hey, maybe you’ll even learn a thing or two about how to prepare for a real emergency,” the CDC zombie preparedness blog reads (it also provides a brief history go zombies, by the way).

Here’s a list of the things the CDC recommends for zombie preparedness:

  • Water
  • Food
  • Medications
  • Tools/Supplies
  • Sanitation/Hygiene Products
  • Clothing/Bedding
  • Important documents
  • First Aid (for basic cuts and injuries, but “you’re a goner if a zombie bites you”)

Visit the zombie preparedness blog for more info on survival items and creating an emergency plan.

The CDC will be ready for any zombie infestation we may face:

“If zombies did start roaming the streets, CDC would conduct an investigation much like any other disease outbreak.”
