G Herbo purchased Overton Elementary School in his hometown of Chicago.
He attended the elementary school as a child.
The school has been closed since 2013.
Instead of the building being condemned, G Herbo decided to transform it into a community center.
He said the purchase allowed him to have an imprint in his community as a leader.
