Studio Executive Wanted Julia Roberts To Play Harriet Tubman

In one of the most absurd stories you will hear this week...this month...this lifetime...a Hollywood studio executive thought Julia Roberts might be the right pick to portray abolitionist hero Harriet Tubman. The screenwriter of the movie Harriet is Gregory Allen Howard. He's been trying to get the film made for years. It finally debuted last month. During a pitch for the movie 25 years ago, Howard said, “I was told how one studio head said in a meeting, ‘This script is fantastic. Let’s get Julia Roberts to play Harriet Tubman.'” When someone told the studio head that Tubman was a black woman, the executive said, "‘It was so long ago. No one is going to know the difference.'” What's the most ridiculous thing you've heard lately?
