Steven Avery, 57, and his nephew, Brendan Dassey, 29, were convicted in 2007 for the murder and they've maintained their innocence.

According to reports, the man confessed to director of Convicting a Murderer, Shawn Rech, during a phone call on Sept. 21. Rech told Newsweek his crew was given the confession while filming the documentary series: "We haven't confirmed the legitimacy of the confession, but seeing as it was given by a notable convicted murderer from Wisconsin, we feel responsible to deliver any and all possible evidence to law enforcement and legal teams. Having been in production for 20 months, we've uncovered an unfathomable amount of information and evidence that is leading us to the truth. Our investigation does not end here."

He also mentioned that the confession didn't come from Dassey or Avery. So if this is all true, they're innocent!
