An Atlanta substitute teacher was fired after creating a list that labeled black children as “devils.”
The teacher, whose name wasn’t released, wrote a note with the names of several students in which she labeled white students “angels” and black students “devils.”
Students took pictures of the note and showed their parents, one parent was so upset they contacted a local news station to share the note and also discussed the incident on Facebook writing, “And please, if you’re reading this… don’t say how you’re sorry this happened to my son who is a straight-A student, comes from a two-parent household and flies planes in his spare time. Instead, think about how you can remove your unconscious bias and racist motives before you step out of your home and engage with anyone who doesn’t look like you.”
In a statement from the district, it was acknowledged that they were aware of the note and said, “The District doesn’t tolerate any adult we employ making comments which are disrespectful in any way.”
