Wu-Tang Clan’s classic Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) is going to be remade “with nine MCs from today,” Loud Records founder Steve Rifkind has said in a new interview with XXL.
“Each new MC will play a character in the original 36 Chambers,” he clarified. He also announced that there will be a “major tour” in honor of the album’s 25th anniversary. Pitchfork has reached out to Wu-Tang representatives for more information.
The 36 Chambers remake will be issued on the newly resurrected Loud Records—the iconic hip-hop label that helped launch rap acts like Wu-Tang Clan, Big Pun, Mobb Deep, and many others in the ’90s. Rifkind sold Loud and its catalog to Sony in 2002. He is now teaming up with RED and Legacy Recordings to revive the label.
