22,000 People Were Tricked Into Signing Up To Clean Toilets For Wifi

Lollapalooza 2006 - Day 2

Geez.

22,000 people were reportedly tricked by public Wifi provider company Purple into agreeing to clean portable toilets at "local festivals and events" by hiding the agreement in the Terms & Conditions.

Everyone clicked "Yes" except one guy who eventually reported the scam.

The term was 1,000 of community service, just for saying yes to public wifi! Apparently, though, they had a point in doing so. They said the whole thing was done "in an effort to highlight a very obvious 'lack of consumer awareness,' Mashable reported Thursday."

They did a pretty good job of it, if you ask me.
