Celebrities everywhere were dedicating social media posts to their mothers, wives, girlfriends, etc. for Mother's Day this past Sunday (May 14).
Russell Wilson joined in as well, wishing his wife Ciara a Happy Mother's Day with a message that was met with quite a bit of criticism from fans of both halves of the couple... as well as Future's...
"Nothing better than spending time with you," Wilson wrote. "You are an amazing mom & I'm so grateful I get to spend the rest of my life with you & raising our kids. I love you! #HappyMothersDay Weekend my love. @Ciara"
I didn't notice it at first either, but the part people have an issue with is the "...raising our kids..." part.
Using the plural form of "kid" implies that both his child with Ciara and Ciara's son with Future are his own.
Many defended Wilson's use of the phrase "our kids" by explaining in the comments that being a step-father still means that you are a parent to the child.
But there were still quite a few followers who took issue with the message.
