Advice On Staying Safe From COVID In Restaurants

As restaurants reopen for seated dining across the country, what can diners do to remain safe from coronavirus? Buzzfeed polled some infectious disease experts for suggestions about tips we should take while we dine out?

Dining outside is ultimately better than inside.

If you can get a patio table, book it.

You should also continue the drills of not touching your face, washing your hands before the meal, and wearing a mask while not eating.

Reusable plates and utensils are generally safe. Most restaurants already have thorough cleaning standards.

Mostly, the experts say use your best judgment. Are the tables spaced apart? Are the servers following protocol? Look for these things as you enter the restaurant.

Have you dined out recently? How was your experience?
