WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama will speak from the White House Wednesday night about the Senate's passage of a bill to reopen the government and avert a Treasury default.

The Senate passed the measure 81 to 18, sending it to the Republican-led House. The White House says Obama will sign the bill if it passes both chambers.

The bill calls for opening the government through Jan. 15 and extending the nation's borrowing authority through Feb. 7.

The government has been shut down for more than two weeks. On Thursday, the Treasury Department is also due to reach its borrowing limit.
