Barack Obama Surprises Fans During NBA Finals

President And Mrs. Obama Host Annual Easter Egg Roll At White House

Which team do you think will win in the Finals?

Former President Barack Obama made an appearance during Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night.

Due to the pandemic, the NBA has taken precautions when it comes to fans attending games.

Fans have been invited to watch games at the Disney campus in real-time, giving them a chance to share their live reactions digitally.

Obama used his Game 1 opportunity to thank poll workers, saying, "I wanted to come on to shout out to all the folks who are volunteering as poll workers in this upcoming election. It can be a thankless job, it's not one of those things you think about, but it is absolutely vital for democracy, and I appreciate you."

Encouraging voters, Obama continued, "Democracy doesn't work if just a few people do it, that's like playing with half the team, but it's only that way if people aren't participating. If people get involved, then we get the best of us and, that's what I'm hoping is going to happen."

The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Miami Heat 116-98.

Game 2 of the NBA Finals happens on Friday night.
