El Chapo is behind bars but still very active throughout Mexico during the Covid-19 pandemic. Videos surfaced on social media have shown daughters of imprisoned drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman handing out boxes filled with mask's, food, toilet paper & other supplies with Guzman’s image on them.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrado said the cartel should focus on ending it's crimes not handing out Covid-19 care packages.
As reported by nypost.com “These criminal organizations that have been seen distributing the packages, this isn’t helpful,” López Obrador told reporters at a news conference.
“What helps is them stopping their bad deeds,” the president said, explaining how the drug gangs should stop harming others.
In 2019, López Obrador’s first full year in office, Mexico saw a record 34,582 murders."
