No one knows exactly how long the coronavirus pandemic will last - but U.S. authorities are preparing for the long haul.
According to reports, the federal government is preparing contingency plans for the outbreak to last up to 18 months with "multiple waves of illness".
Some issues addressed in the 100-page report include possible medical equipment shortages, other supply chains, and the possibility that a vaccine will take "extended time to develop".
More than 2,700 new cases were reported in the US in the 24 hours from Wednesday morning to Thursday morning. In total, at least 11,015 people across the country have tested positive for the virus, as Thursday afternoon. At least 164 have died.
How long do you think the outbreak will last? Are we prepared to do this for a year?
