Double-tapping and the heart button will soon be just a memory after Instagram tests its newest feature.
CEO Adam Mosseri announced on Twitter that the app will be testing private likes this week.
This feature will no longer allow users to like other user’s photos, or even display likes altogether.
A lot of people don’t like this idea, including Nicki Minaj. The rapper tweeted that she’s going to stop posting on the platform if this happens.
Juicy J simply said that it’s, “time to go back to real life,” while Cardi B said that the decision to remove likes is pointless since it’s the comments that are toxic.
Some are on board with the idea though, like Kim Kardashian who thinks that it’ll benefit peoples’ mental health.
The app’s primary audience of influencers are also upset by this, explaining that they’ll no longer be able to maintain brand deals.
