The Story Behind The Cover Of Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation

Janet Jackson refused to give the record label a sequel to Control. She used her art to make a political statement about issues of race, gun violence, poverty, illiteracy, ignorance and more.

Now, 30 years after later, Janet will finally be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Guzman, the husband and wife team who took photos for Rhythm Nation share memories and never before seen images from the iconic shoot. While they gave Janet very little direction, they just watched, calling it "very voyeuristic."
