Missy Elliott Is The First Female Rapper Nominated Songwriters Hall of Fame

Missy’s career has spanned almost 30 years and besides her award-winning performances of her songs, she's also written for artists like Beyonce, Aaliyah, Monica, Lil Kim, Janet Jackson, and Mary J. Blige.

Missy took to her Twitter page to acknowledge the honor.

 

Missy is the third rapper to receive the award, JAY-Z was the first followed by Jermaine Dupri. Missy will be honored along with Mariah Carey at a ceremony on June 13, 2019, in New York.
