The longest blood moon eclipse of this century is happening soon. The eclipse will occur with Mars' closest approach to Earth in 15 years.

During this time, Mars will hover near the moon and will be easily visible with the naked eye. It will appear large and bright.

According to NASA, the U.S. will have to wait until July 2020 to witness the next lunar eclipse. A lunar eclipse happens when Earth positions in a straight line between the moon and sun.
