Happy Cinco De Mayo!!
In the U.S, Cinco De Mayo is a day of partying and drinking but do you know the reason behind the celebration?!
In case you might not know, Cinco De Mayo is the celebration of Mexico’s win over France in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Mexico’s actual independence day is a national holiday celebrated on Sept. 16th.
However, in the 60’s a lot of Mexican-Americans celebrated May 5th as pride in their civil rights fight and liquor companies tagged along making Cinco De Mayo one of the biggest holidays for alcohol sales!
