Stay Safe on the Roads with the California Motorcyclist Safety Program!

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is urging all motorcycle riders to stay safe on the roadways and sign up for California's Motorcyclist Safety Program (CMSP). More than 1.1 million motorcycle riders have received training at one of the CMSP's many training sites since the program began in 1987.

If you've ever wanted to buy a motorcycle and hit the open road, the Motorcyclist Training Course provided by the CHP is a licensing requirement for riders under 21-years-old and highly recommended for riders over 21-years-old. The program teaches riders how to stay safe on the roads by riding responsibly, wearing the proper helmet and protective gear, and how riders can stay alert and use common sense and courtesy on the road.

The 15 hour program includes 5 hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of actual riding. The CMSP also offers riders the chance to enroll in their Premier Program, which is an extended MTC that is an additional 7.5 hours of classroom instruction and another 13.5 hours of riding.

If you'd like to enroll in a CMSP class, call 1(877) RIDE-411 or visit CaliforniaMotorcyclist.com. If you plan to ride a motorcycle, get trained and get licensed. The CHP always encourages riders to be life-long learners and seek additional training beyond the MTC and Premier programs.
