Established in 1982 OUTFEST is one of the only global LGBTQIA+ arts, media and entertainment organizations whose programs empower artists, communities and filmmakers to transform the world through their stories...in hopes of building empathy to drive meaningful social change. They are a 501C3 nonprofit. Outfest has educated, trained, and mentored over 1,000 emerging storytellers, directors, actors, producers, production designers, artists, and screenwriters for film, television, digital streaming and experimental platforms. Outfest’s year-round programs and events generate over 5 million media impressions with the physical attendance of both local and international visitors exceeding over 50,000. In 2018 and 2019, over 2/3 of the filmmakers from Outfest’s screenings were women, people of color, transgender or non-binary.
