Looks like all that drive-thru use and take-out orders are catching to fast food chains and restaurants.
According to USA TODAY, Heinz confirmed that their company is having a shortage of a ketchup packets all across the United States due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last year, retail ketchup sales were up 15 percent because people were stuck at home. Single-use packet increase was also up because of drive-thru use and take-out orders. The demand is still high as restaurants reopen because bottles aren’t being placed on tables as a way to reduce the spread of COVID.T
To fix this issue, Heinz will be increasing production by 25 percent to help keep up and produce more than 12 billion packets a year.
