A Massachusetts 18-year-old turned in her own family after recognizing her mom, uncle and aunt amidst the Capitol rioters last week.
Helena Duke spotted her family members on a viral Twitter clip. In the video, she saw a white woman who was left with a bloodied nose and realized it was her mother. So Duke took it upon herself to call out her mother on the social media platform.
“I was in disbelief and it felt very surreal that she was actually there and the woman in that viral video was my mother,” Duke told Teen Vogue. “It was very overwhelming.”
Duke continued calling out the rest of her family for their participation in the riots. She later identified her uncle as Richard Lorenz and her aunt as Annie Lorenz.
“Hi this is the liberal lesbian of the family who has been kicked out multiple times for her views and for going to BLM protests,” Duke said in a tweet.
