The Long Beach City Council this week passed a resolution that would require "hero pay" for all frontline grocery workers. "Hero pay" will require grocery stores with at least 300 employees to pay their hourly employees an additional $4 an hour in hazard pay wages for 120 days aka 4 months.
Long Beach Mayor, Rober Garcia says frontline workers have been putting their lives on the line.
Councilmember Rex Richardson also says he was aware that restoring hazard pay is something grocery store workers have been calling on their employers to do for months.
