Kid Cudi Says He Was Ashamed To Talk About Mental Health

In the upcoming episode of Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk series, Kid Cudi was the latest guest on the show. The rapper opened up about mental health and offering advice to those who need it.

"I was really good at keeping my troubles hidden… even from my friends," Cudi told Jada, Adrienne Banfield-Jones and Willow Smith. "I really was good with that. And it's scary because you hear people say, 'I had no clue.’"

Cudi even added in that he went out his way to keep his issues hidden, and he felt ashamed of his issues. "I really went out of my way to keep what I was going through hidden because I was ashamed," he says.

Cudi has been dealing with mental issues his whole life and even checked himself into rehab back in 2016. In a Facebook post in 2016, was when Cudi told his fans that he was checking himself into rehab to tackle his depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts.

“I am not at peace,” he wrote. “My anxiety and depression have ruled my life for as long as I can remember and I never leave the house because of it … Its time I fix me. I’m nervous but I’mma get through this.”

Red Table Talk airs Monday on Facebook Watch.
