Kendrick Lamar becoming the first rapper to win the Pulitzer Prize in music is an epic accomplishment. Rihanna recently congratulated the Grammy-winning rapper, noting how him securing the prize has even bigger implications.
On Saturday morning (April 21), RiRi shared a cartoon graphic of herself and Kendrick on her Instagram Story. "Congrats to my boy KungFuKenny on making history and winning such a prestigious award like a Pulitzer!" she wrote. "Keep showing the kids that anything is possible man."
Kendrick Lamar's Damn. became the first non-classical or jazz work to earn the award. According to The Boston Globe, the Pulitzer board called the album, "a work that captures the complexity of African-American life."
Many hip-hop artists have been showing love on social media to the Compton rapper for his feat. "Pulitzer Prize winner Kdot from Compton," TDE's Punch noted on Twitter. "I bet not ever hear one of you niggas speak with anything less than respect in your mouth for Kendrick Lamar."
