Why Is #BoycottBorderlands3 Trending?

The hype surrounding Borderlands 3 took a severe hit this week when #BoycottBorderlands3 started gaining steam on Twitter.

While rumors swirled of what the reason could be, it became apparent that is was the result of YouTuber SupMatto. SupMatto is known for posting Borderlands related videos and stumbled upon a Twitch account that was testing the extension ECHOcast. He then found thumbnails on the private account containing Borderlands 3 related material.

After Take-Two Interactive realized that these thumbnails had hit the Internet, the take-down notices began to hit. It didn't end there. SupMatto alleges that two private investigators were sent to his home.

He posted the video seen below:

“Take Two and 2K take the security and confidentiality of trade secrets very seriously,” a 2K rep said. “The action we’ve taken is the result of a 10-month investigation and a history of this creator profiting from breaking our policies, leaking confidential information about our product, and infringing our copyright.”

SupMotto has deleted several of his videos relating to Borderlands 3 since all of the drama started.

Do you think 2k went too far?
