After some speculation that Jussie Smollett would be returning to his role on Empire, show co-creator Lee Daniels put the rumor to bed.
On Tuesday, Variety reported that writers on the show were planning to include Smollett in the sixth and final season of the drama series.
Daniels posted a message on social media debunking the report saying, "This is not factual. Jussie will NOT be returning to Empire."
Smollett was written out of the last few episodes of season 5 after he was arrested for filing a false police report where he said he was a victim of a hate crime. The case has unfolded since then.
