"Free 21 Savage" Petition Started By Black Lives Matter Movement

21 Savage's arrest shocked the music industry over the weekend.

Several reports say that the 26-year-old rapper was arrested and detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

According to ICE, 21 Savage a UK-native who overstayed his visa.

Several rappers and entertainers have come to 21's defense, criticizing ICE for his detainment without proper due process.

The Black Lives Matter organization has expressed outrage and has started a petition to free 21.

“The circumstances of Mr. Abraham-Joseph’s detention stand as a testament to the consistent and historically under-reported harassment and targeting of Black immigrants,” the post reads. “The US’ violent history of criminalizing Blackness intersects with its deadly legacy of detaining and deporting Black and Brown immigrants. This needs to stop today!”

“There are around 4.2 Million Black immigrants in the U.S. — 619,000 are undocumented,” the petition continues. ” Mr. Abraham-Joseph has been in the United States since he was a young child. Atlanta is his home.”
