In case you missed it Snapchat is under a lot of heat for posting a super insensitive, tone deaf ad featuring Rihanna and Chris Brown.
Now, I didn't see this personally on Snapchat but I saw it circulating around the web and I saw Rihanna respond to Snapchat on Instagram.
The ad was a "Would You Rather?" quiz with the options being Slap Rihanna or Punch Chris Brown. Fans were super quick to point out how incredibly insensitive and tone deaf the ad was considering the history of Rihanna and Chris Brown's relationship.
It's so wild to think that an "ad" like this would really run on the popular social media app but I'm glad people were quick to call them out for it.
Rihanna took to Instagram to address the app directly on her story. "Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain’t my fav app out there!" she wrote, alluding to the fact she uses Instagram stories more. "But I’m just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess! I’d love to call it ignorance, but I know you ain’t that dumb! You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV [domestic violence] victims and made a joke of it!!! This isn’t about my personal feelings, cause I don’t have much of them…but all the women, children, and men that have been victims of DV in the past and especially the ones who haven’t made it out yet…you let us down! Shame on you. Throw the whole app-oligy [sic] away."
