The Oxford English Dictionary Just Added This Word, All Thanks To Eminem

2014 Lollapalooza - Day 1

Eminem and his fans have just made history.

The Oxford English Dictionary has added the word "Stan" to its repertoire, all thanks to Em's 2000 track "Stan," which was told from the viewpoint of his number one fan/stalker who would write him letters and eventually committed suicide after taking Em's lyrics too seriously.

The track showcases the pros and cons of being a celebrity, someone who's more or less responsible for how fans react and perceive the world around them. We got to see some of Em's struggle with this responsibility through the single.

Now, the word "Stan" has officially been defined. According to the dictionary, a "Stan" is a noun, which is "an overzealous or obsessive fan of a particular celebrity."

Dope!
