If you're from LA and have ever taken a cruise down Crenshaw then you've seen quite a few murals featuring prominent figures among the African American culture. In fact less than a mile away you can find Leimert Park, the epicenter of the Black community that houses many events and even the final destination of the Annual Martin Luther King Jr Kingdom Day Parade.
Over the past few years the area has been under much scrutiny by locals who feel the effects gentrification. So when word spread that the beloved mural had been vandalized with swastikas, the news was not received well at all.
Thankfully the community sprang into action and with the help of artist Enkone, the mural was fixed within hours however the message that racism is still alive and well in 2018 was received loud and clear.
Here's a brief history on where the mural is located better known as the Crenshaw Wall.
