How to Cool Down Your Hot House the Old-Fashioned Way

With hot temperatures reaching into the triple digits, you may find it hard to cool down your house, and cranking up the air conditioner isn’t good for your pocketbook, so here are some easy ways to cool down your home, the old-fashioned way.

Staying hydrated, switching on a fan, and rinsing off in a cold shower are all effective at cooling down your core, but with your home, closing the blinds and curtains may also do the trick. Keep heat at a minimum this means, cooking outside on the grill, turning off lights in favor of natural sunlight and unplugging electronics.

Changing your sheets is another good tip, cotton is best for hot Summer nights, you can even put your sheets in the freezer before bed to stay cool.

Adjust your ceiling fans so that they run counter-clockwise and push the cool air down, but remember to turn them off when leaving the room, fans cool people, not rooms.
