Since when does emotional support become a problem?
A student by the name of Belen Aldecosea was set to travel on Spirit Airlines from Baltimore heading back to her hometown state Florida and was stopped before boarding due to her pet hamster Pebbles.
Belen claims she was assured she was able to bring her pet hamster who is registered as "emotional support" along with her but was forced to get rid of him after arrival. After being rejected, one of Spirit Airlines' reps suggested she free the hamster outdoors or flush down the toilet.
"She was scared. I was scared. It was horrifying trying to put her in the toilet,” Belen says. “I was emotional. I was crying. I sat there for a good 10 minutes crying in the stall.”
The disturbing part of this is story is the hamster was ill and was going to be treated once landed.
