He bought the 1960 Rolex GMT in Germany when he was stationed there in the army just before he came back to state-side. The 55-year-old watch gave him one of the biggest surprises of his life.
It was the first Rolex GMT master that the company ever made, and also has some pretty interesting and unique details. And having saved all of the original paperwork, he brought a complete kit to the antique show (he also kept the original bracelet)!
He bought the watch for just a little over $100 in 1960, but it's now valued at just around $65-75,000.
