EST Gee's manager Devontae Beach was fatally shot after the rapper's massive homecoming concert in his hometown.
According to reports that several local outlets published on Monday, July 22, Beach was discovered in his vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds following a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning. Police responded to calls about the shooting that happened a couple of blocks from the KFC Yum! Center in downtown Louisville at around 1:30 a.m. First responders arrived on the scene not long after the shooting and pronounced Beach dead. He was only 31 years old. As of this report, EST Gee has not commented on his manager's death.
EST Gee performed in his hometown for the first time in four years right before the shooting went down. His "EST Gee + Friends Summer Jam" concert at the Yum! Center featured guest appearances from Yo Gotti, 42 Dugg, Lil Baby, Icewear Vezzo and others. In the days leading up to the event, police reportedly received tips about potential violence that could occur at the concert. The venue decided to move forward with the show with increased security.
"Ensuring our staff and guests’ safety is paramount, and these additional measures effectively ensured a secure environment for everyone attending the concert," the venue said in a statement.
Devontae Beach was EST Gee's manager and also served as a part-time little-league football coach. Police are actively looking for suspects and haven't shared any theories about a motive. However, they are aware of EST Gee's connections to alleged gang activity. In 2021, 10 members of the "Everybody Shine Together" crew including Gee's former manager Eric Mosely were arrested over gang-related gun and drug charges. Gee, born George Stone, was not arrested.
Rest in peace, Devontae Beach.
