Man Busted for Driving with Plate that Expired 31 Years Ago

Toronto police have issued a citation to a motorist who was driving with plates that expired -- 31 years ago.

The unidentified motorist was pulled over Wednesday when a police officer noticed the tag on his license plate had expired in August 1989 -- when the officer was only 8 years old, says Halton Police Constable Marc Tarasol.

"I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that has got to be a Provincial record for most expired validation resulting in a charge," Tarasol says.

It should be noted that Toronto motorists pay $240 every two years to renew their tags -- and any outstanding tickets need to be paid before the tags can be renewed.
