CHEERS!!!! This is the kind of study that I love!! What state in the United States is the Drunkest!!! How did we find out these results? Well apparently

"National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, which calculates the number of gallons of ethanol consumed per state per 100,000 residents over the age of 14."

Take that and mix it with the U.S. Census data to figure out the number of bars per capita and then add in American Addiction Centers' analysis of DUI arrests per capita for each state.

ALRIGHT what is the drunkest state?

NORTH DAKOTA!!

Alcohol consumption per capita:3.16 gallons

Number of bars per capita:52.24

Number of DUI arrests per capita:833.42

Number of craft breweries per capita:2.9

Drunk Score: 99.94

So where does California land in the survey?!

We're number 23 on the list

Alcohol consumption per capita:2.49 gallons

Number of bars per capita:8.43

Number of DUI arrests per capita:311.6

Number of craft breweries per capita:2.3

Drunk Score: 29.12

Here are the Top Five

  1. North Dakota
  2. Montana
  3. South Dakota
  4. New Hampshire
  5. Wisconsin

A lot of these states have really cold weather - I wonder if that's why people drink more...you know, to keep warm.
