Police Chief Drake Issues Statement Regarding Shooting Of Jacob Blake

The interim police chief for the Metro Nashville Police Department spoke on the shooting of Jacob Blake on Wednesday. 

"I am saddened and have serious concerns regarding the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin," Drake said. "The video, which is all the public has to rely on presently, is troubling to me. While we await additional information, I think it important for Nashvillians to know that our police officers are trained to help resolve tense situations with a focus on ethics, values, proportionality, and sanctity of human life."

On Wednesday, Chief Drake welcomed 81 new police trainees and emphasized to them about de-escalation instruction that's part of the Fair & Impartial Policing curriculum.
