Why Are These Hollywood Actresses Leaving Their Cartoon Roles?!

Should black cartoon characters be voiced by black actors? That's the topic of conversation right now!

Two actresses, Kristen Bell and Jenny Slate both have decided to step away from their cartoon roles because they play black characters in their show.

Jenny Slate voices Missy on Big Mouth and Kristen Bell voices Molly on Central Park.

Both actresses have released statements saying they are choosing to step away from the roles so that black actors can step in and voice the characters!

I have to be honest, I do love that Jenny and Kristen have made this decision on their own and them stepping aside allows for more inclusion in Hollywood!

However, the question has been asked on social media, When it comes to cartoon characters, does it matter who is voicing the character, should it be based on race, gender, sexuality preference or age? Does that mean only a man should voice a male character? Bart Simpson was voiced by a woman. Linda on Bob's Burgers is voiced by a man. He got the job because he use to make youtube videos impersonating his Mom. James Earl Jones voiced Darth Vader in Star Wars. Phil LaMarr is a very famous black voice actor who has voiced every single race.

What do you think?

Personally I believe this move made by Kristen and Jenny is more about inclusion in Hollywood! These actresses stepping aside and giving the chance for black actors to be cast in the role, is a beautiful thing because there should be more opportunities for talented minority actors and I truly believe them making this decision is what it's all about, allowing for more inclusion and that's what Hollywood truly needs!
