During Meek Mill's imprisonment, several Philadelphia sports teams and their players rallied in support of fight to toss his conviction. As news was breaking about his release, Meek posted a statement on social media and specifically named Rubin as his "good friend." The rapper wrote:

"I’d like to thank God, my family, my friends, my attorneys, my team at Roc Nation including JAY-Z, Desiree Perez, my good friend Michael Rubin, my fans, The Pennsylvania Supreme Court and all my public advocates for their love, support and encouragement during this difficult time."

After Rubin picked up Meek at the prison in Chester, Pennsylvania they hopped on a luxury helicopter to Philadelphia. Members of the press waited for Meek's arrival at the arena. A reporter for NBC sports Philadelphia rolled his camera as the rapper exited his vehicle and headed into the arena.

Rubin's daughters are seen rushing to Meek saying "We missed you!" Someone in the background is heard asking the rapper "How do you feel right now?" Meek replies looking overwhelmed, "I feel... great!"
