Mom Reports Young Son Missing, Finds He's Working To Buy Her Christmas Gift

Here's a heartwarming story that will fill you with the Christmas spirit in no time. According to Oklahoma's News 4, a mother reported her 13-year-old son missing when he disappeared from their home, only to discover that he was working to buy her a Christmas gift.

Sophia Reed had just moved her family to a new apartment in Oklahoma. Unfortunately after the move, she didn't have enough money left to do any X-mas shopping. "What little Christmas money we had, you know, to pay my security deposit for here," Sophia told KFOR. So, her son Diauris and daughter Deneisha devised a plan.

Diauris would go and collect cans, trade them in for money and buy their mother something special for the holiday. However, when Sophia noticed that Diauris was missing from their apartment, the mom panicked and immediately called the police to report him missing.

Worried about the plan that she and her brother thought of, Deneisha kept her mouth closed when her mother did this. "I was very afraid he was going to get in trouble," she said. "I just didn't want to say anything because it would blow the whole thing."

When Diauris eventually return home, he noticed cops were there. That's when he filled them in on his plan. That inspired officer Roland Russell to tell other policemen about the kids' idea and invite other cops to the family's home.

"There was so many knocks on my door, everybody just was knocking, just was knocking. And every time I opened my door, it was the police, the police," Sophia told KFOR. When the other cops arrived, they even bought the family Christmas and housewarming presents. Not only that, but the cops collectively raised $800 for the mom and her children!

When asked what motivated him to buy his mom something, Diauris said, "I just wanted to do something for my mama."

He continued about the police's visit and generosity: "Most of the time when I see the police, it's like, bad stuff. Up here, I guess it's changed. It's good."

"They caught us at the right time and we are so grateful," Sophia added.

See the family's sweet interview above and happy holidays!
