After dropping his new single "Procrastination (Broke)," J. Cole surprised his fans and his producer, who didn't know what was coming.
On Wednesday (January 18), producer, Bvtman and J. Cole announced the track on social media.
Cole searched YouTube for a "J. Cole type beat" after struggling to find inspiration. He discovered Bvtman's channel, where he had tracks in the vein of Cole, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Nipsey Hussle, Kanye West, and others' styles.
The "Procrastination" beat ended Cole’s writer's block. While Cole says song like this usually "stays in the vault," he released the song to honor Bvtman and other producers. Batman stated he randomly received a text from Ibrahim "IB" Hamad, Dreamville Records' co-founder and Cole's longtime manager, telling him Cole liked his work and was putting the song out.
